Faculty Head

Head of faculty - Kirk Fisher

ASAM is headed by Kirk Fisher, Principal Director of Learning and Development.

In his role as Faculty Head, Kirk holds a range of portfolio responsibilities. He closely oversees the continual development of the Australian Management Development Framework, which maps ASAM's best-of-breed programs into a logical and strategic developmental pathway.

Kirk also reviews ASAM's two-way engagement with its National Advisory Board, and ensures that Board input remains a strong part of the programming of all of ASAM's management courses.

About Kirk

Following an extensive search, Kirk was hand-picked for the role of ASAM Faculty Head from his hometown of New England, USA.

For the last 20 years, Kirk has worked in developing leadership, innovation and change.  Early in his career Kirk founded two successful alternative schools. Directing these schools led to a passion and curiosity about how people work, and how organisations become learning organisations. Kirk developed this interest into his current work, facilitating and consulting with leading organisations around Australia.

When he left teaching, Kirk founded his own consultancy and training business. Kirk developed and presented workshops largely focused on leadership, management, innovation and culture. As a consultant and facilitator, Kirk also worked with various communities, including the survivors of Marysville following the 2009 bushfires, the ‘sustainable futures’ three-day planning retreat for a major utility, and a wide range of other projects.

Kirk has presented papers and workshops at conferences on leadership and storytelling, and he organised the 2009 ‘Future of Work’ conference. He was an award-winning classical and jazz musician in his youth, and still performs occasionally. He has a Master’s degree in Education and Human Development, a Diploma of Business, Diploma of Business HR and a Bachelor of Music Performance.

Kirk’s workshops focus on developing practical outcomes for participants. Audiences regularly comment on his honesty, humour and well-researched presentations.
